Pool table lights are recommended for optimal play. Having several flood lights below ceiling height helps to minimize shadows that can hinder visualizing your shot.
The recommended hanging height of a pool table light is 31" to 33” from the top of the pool table playing surface to the bottom of the lamp shade. If measuring from the floor before the pool table is installed, the bottom of the shade should be 61" to 63” above the floor. Depending on the size of the billiard lamp and the size of the pool table, you may adjust the height to gain adequate lighting on the whole pool table playing surface. Keep in mind that the light is designed to light the pool table playing surface not the room.
Pool table lights include a ceiling canopy that can be mounted to an electrical box in the ceiling. The chain from the lamp can be attached to the ceiling canopy. Another option is to hang the lamp chain from well anchored ceiling hooks. For T-bar ceilings, you can purchase special T-bar ceiling hooks to hang the billiard lamp from.
